Gifts

For Cathan's 16th Birthday, we got him the entire MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) movie collection (thus far) in blu-ray, all with digital download ... pretty sweet eh? eh, eh?! :)

... and yesterday we saw Endgame! (don't worry, no spoilers, this post isn't about Marvel!)

Just saying that gifts are fun ... simple blessings like being able to go out to a movie are fun ... it's fun to give, and let's be honest, receiving isn't horrible! Gifts are meant to make us feel good when we give them, and loved when we receive them ...

Plus, like any good father, some of the gifts that God grants to us are sometimes just that ... gifts to enjoy! Yes also, like any good father, and He being the best, grants us not only gifts we want, but gifts we so desperately need ...

One particular gift that goes beyond all the fun things in the world, goes beyond jobs and school, goes even beyond safety, a roof over our head, and food to eat ...

'that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, ' - Ephesians 1:17

The gift is to know Him ... Jesus Himself ... knowledge of Him ...

Yet so often, the thrill of the moment seems to overshadow the precious gift of eternity that is simply ... Him ...

So as you go about your day, sit in the theater for what I feel is an epic movie, bask in the warmth of sun in a home that you are privileged to sleep in, or simply be thankful for the meal that is in front of you ... may we all never forget the gift that supersedes all of that, regardless of what circumstances we find ourselves in ...
