Let's not miss it ...

Sitting down with Rebekah this morning was a refreshing start to my day! We haven't had our morning in several weeks (maybe even a few months?) as she was having some issues getting up early. We tried the "after work" slot, but of course, with how life goes, it rarely works ... nonetheless, it was good to get back on track, even if our first morning back was a late start that we both forgot about!

Anyway, during our discussion she shared a passage from John (John 5:8-29) where Jesus is illustrating Himself and His Authority as God. She took great comfort as she read these words last night before bed, and rested in who He is ...

However, she also shared how this Truth was something that was being rejected by some. Even though they were waiting for the Messiah, and expecting the Messiah, they missed it.

... which then got us thinking and talking about not just His first coming, but His second. We are waiting for it ... we are expecting it ... are we prepared?

Yet in all of this "waiting", there is also a lot of "here now". Something I've heard some call the "already not yet" ... I like that ...

He is here ... God is with us ... and even before the 2nd coming, are we missing out on Him even today? We are waiting and expecting Him to show up in our lives ... yet I think often we too miss His very presence.

... just some good morning thoughts over coffee and a bagel with my 8 year old!

May we keep our eyes and heart open to His moving even right now in this very moment ...
