When You Forget - Remember

Remembering is a powerful weapon. Today when I thought about what cannot be at the moment, I was able to remember what was ... and what can be again. Hanging out with my mom at a local winery for example - such a wonderful time - something that I just can't do now with this pandemic. However that memory filled a hole, made me smile, and caused me to hope and look forward again to the future ...

Yet there are others ... others that transcend this momentary pilgrimage we have on this planet. Those of our God ...

Reading Psalm 77 was another refreshing read (and an important read) for battles we often face ...

While not Scripture, I really like some of the headings that many of the bible translations add throughout the Texts. NKJV (New King James Version) adds some quite sound ones if I do say so myself, often my favorite ones, including Psalm 77 which reads:

"The Consoling Memory of God's Redemptive Works"

What a beautiful reminder to have in trying times. The psalmist opens with crying out, struggling with insomnia, and wondering why God seems so distant and not there ...

Yet what he recalls on to help him in the moment, was God's faithfulness in the past ... he writes:

Then I said, “I will appeal to this,
to the years of the right hand of the Most High.”
I will remember the deeds of the LORD;
yes, I will remember your wonders of old.
I will ponder all your work,
and meditate on your mighty deeds. (Psalm 77:10-12)

May we, when caught in those dark moments of silence, simply recount the faithful times that God so wonderfully provided since we first laid our life down at that cross in submission to Him ...

His,
~Matthew

I often think that without our memories, not knowing what the days ahead might bring, our lives would feel so empty. They certainly become the bridge to meeting our tomorrows. Thanks Matt💕.
