A Battalion of Insults

Australian 11th (Western Australia) Battalion, 3rd Infantry Brigade,
Australian Imperial Force posing on the Great Pyramid of Giza on 10 January 1915

As much as I have read these passages, I never realized the number of people that mocked Jesus as he was dragged away towards his murder ...
'Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the governor's headquarters, and they gathered the whole battalion before him. And they stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on his head and put a reed in his right hand. And kneeling before him, they mocked him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!" And they spit on him and took the reed and struck him on the head. ' - Matthew 27:27-30
The whole battalion was there to mock Him ... abuse Him ... hate Him ...

In modern times, this can be several hundred, at the minimum, in this case, scholars believe this was likely a maniple (a third of a cohort), which was 120–200 soldiers ...

Imagine the humiliation that He endured for you ...

May we never forget what He did ... and never forget why ...

You were worth that ... you are worth that ...

His,
~Matthew
