Yet Not I But Through Christ in me

Isaiah 26:7 states, "The path of the righteous is level; you make level the way of the righteous." In a life that can sometimes feel uneven, the promise of a level path is comforting and appealing. Thus, we might assume that we must be righteous to have this "level path," right?

This verse is an excellent example of why we must see Christ in all of His word, not just in the New Testament. As John 1:1 states, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

It is easy for our minds to focus on striving towards our own sanctification and living a life of practical holiness in an attempt to become righteous enough to have a more level path. However, we can never be righteous apart from Christ because He is our righteousness.

Let us focus on Him, trust Him, submit to Him as Lord and Savior, and His perfect righteousness, which we never deserved, will be ours.

Although our path may not always be as level as we desire (although I do believe that God blesses obedience even here on earth when He wants to), there is a "level" path that leads to abiding in Christ and to Glory.

That is level enough for me.

His, ~Matt
