At His Door

So I found Rebekah one day in super spy mode trying to listen in on her big brother! She felt by pushing the cord of her headphones under the door would be a great way to "sneak him"! :)

However, while not "sneaking up" on God, do we desire to listen in on Him, wait on him, and stand outside His "door" in eager expectation?

' Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors.' - Proverbs 8:34
This passage is actually speaking of personified "wisdom" ... yet symbolizes God and the only true Wisdom that comes from Him, and even of God Himself ...

Do we desire to just get a glimpse of Him, desire to hear just a simple Word from His mouth to our heart; do we even desire to hear Him a fraction as much as Rebekah desired to listen in on her big brother? Do we pray, read, serve, then go about our day ... and miss out on connecting our aching and empty heart to the One that can ease and fill it?

Wouldn't it be beautiful if we metaphorically went about our daily tasks after lifting them to Him in prayer, while constantly gazing at His door, listening, and waiting ...

We worship Him as the almighty omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent God He is ... but if our hearts understood a fraction of what that actually meant, it would be hard to tear ourselves away from His door ... and we would clutch on with everything we had to stay in His presence ...

Yet ... His presence ... is what we are filled with through the Holy Spirit ... we, having the living dwelling presence of God in us are constantly at His door ... do you know who you are child of God?

May that knowledge drop us to our knees far more than it does ...

May we let Him speak to us ... and may we listen and His door, waiting ... expecting ...

His,
~Matthew
