Mind Melds and The Holy Spirit

I remember as a kid being fascinated with the Vulcan Mind Meld ... a way to both read and transfer information from one mind to another ...

Not too long ago as I was going through some training with some of my team, the thought came to me again. Imagine being able to take a few moments to dump all that knowledge that would otherwise take days, months, or even years!!

I wonder if that information dump would be retained though? Isn't taking a glimpse of a bunch of flooded information different than remembering? Transferring information to knowledge then into wisdom with experience is a bit different, yes? Hmm ... I digress ... maybe a thought for another journal entry ...

Yet as I was reading through Corinthians I couldn't help but realize how much greater a gift we have been given than a Vulcan Mind Meld ...

'For who knows a person's thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. ' - 1 Corinthians 2:11-12

You see, the Holy Spirit is not just a "piece of God's mind" ... it's not a "power" or "Holy tool" ... it's God Himself ... we can converse with God (pray) in confidence that He can reveal His will to us if He chooses - and the closer we draw to Him, the more we understand ... and can understand ...

God wants us to understand Him as much as we can - He has gifted us this ability through Himself - He intends and wants us to know Him deeply - after all, what intimate relationship would not be as such?

The triune nature of God (as He reveals Himself as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) may be a great mystery - but frankly it would be a lot more mysterious if He wasn't revealed in such a way. The more I study and the more I get to know Him, the more it just ... make logical sense. Mysterious and Logical all at once - I love the way He reveals Himself ...

So Christian - rest knowing that not only are we gifted with a God that hears, but one that is ever present in us, allowing us the privilege to actually learn to understand Him all that much more ... and hear Him back ...

His,
~Matthew

Prayer Requests: It's a busy week - we have some travel, kids in different places with camps and being with sitters, and just not going to be united entirely much - so just prayers as we life for Him apart from each other.
Praise: Just thankful for seeing God active in my life (though I can always use more awareness!) ... home, work, family, marriage, etc. ...
